Sustainability - Eco-friendly production

As WWF-Turkey's official shopping site, we believe that our material choices have the greatest impact in the field of sustainability. While always taking into account the conditions under which our raw materials are grown, obtained, processed and recycled; we continoulsy push for better fibres, better applications, better products. From the design stage to manufacturing, we are committed to creating environmentally responsible products.

Conscious fabrics, applications and products

We always ensure that the materials we choose to are fibres that are independently certified. For our garments, we use organic cotton, deadstock fabrics, GOTS certified organic cotton, GRS (Global Recycling Standard) certified recycled polyester and recycled cotton. For our accessories such as tote bags and cases, we use Recyclable Tyvek, Organic Cotton, Recycled PVC. For kitchenware, we do use plastic only to avoid single-use plastic products, such as design-led, efficient water bottles instead of single-use cups. As for paperwork, we make sure our products are manufactured using FSC certified paper.

GOTS

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)

WWF-Market products are certified with Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), a standard with environmental and social criteria, developed by the leading international standard identifiers and applied to all procedures following the harvest (including thread, knitting, weaving, dyeing, and producing) of products within the ready-made garment industry that are manufactured with organic fibre. The main criteria include the use of genetically modified organisms (GDOs), the necessity of waste water treatment methods, and the use of hazardous chemicals and dyes. It also has a decent control system with regard to social compliance and prohibition of child labour.

Oeko-Tex 100 Standard

Oeko-Tex Standard 100 label certifies that every component of a gamrnet, i.e. every thread, button and other accessories, has been tested for harmful substances and that the garment therefore is harmless in human ecological terms. The test is conducted by independent OEKO-TEX® partner institutes on the basis of extensive OEKO-TEX® criteria catalog. The test takes into account numerous regulated and non-regulated substances, which may be harmful to human health. In many cases the limit values for the STANDARD 100 go beyond national and international requirements. The criteria catalog is updated at least once a year and expanded with new scientific knowledge or statutory requirements.

FSC

(Forest Stewardship Council)

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international organisation whose mission has been established as steering businesses and consumers worldwide as a decisive authority on forests. Among its goals are the use of forests in accordance with the environmental standards that are accepted worldwide, ensuring permanence, and support for forest products to be traced and branded. The FSC logo can only be used in products that are defined. A product that has the logo has been labeled as accredited in line with the specified standards.

As WWF Market, we care about protecting the environment and supporting the principle of transparency. Therefore, we design and manufacture products with FSC certification, showing that our materials are based on reliable and sustainable resources.

GRS

GRS (Global Recycling Standart)

Global Recycle Standard (GRS) is applied to companies that manufacture recycled products as finished or semi-finished products. It covers all products containing at least 20% recycled material. Its application area is not only limited to textile products but also to paper, packaging, glass and plastic. The GRS standard also oversees worker health & safety, and environmental and waste management.

New materials

We constantly design and experiment with new raw materials to expand our use of environmentally friendly, sustainable and innovative fabrics. We do production trials with recycled yarns and fabrics.

New Materials

We constantly design and experiment with new raw materials to expand our use of environmentally friendly, sustainable and innovative fabrics. We do production trials with recycled yarns and fabrics.

We are constantly looking for innovative materials and longer ways of use through our R&D projects. Our production team examines the material alternatives in terms of their commercial applicability, and our design team adapts them to the products.
